About

A catalog for the classical canon.

Islamic Corpus is a research tool that makes 1,400 years of classical Islamic scholarship searchable in plain English. Every answer returns the named scholar, the source, and the volume. Ask in English; get primary sources back.

Why it exists

The classical tradition is enormous and mostly in Arabic. English translations are expensive, incomplete, or out of print. Searching across hundreds of volumes for one passage used to take a week. Islamic Corpus makes it a single question.

Who built it

Islamic Corpus is built by Islam Abdallah, an independent developer. The product is infrastructure work — the same category as a library catalog or a search index. Islam is not a scholar and does not claim scholarly authority. The scholars whose work the corpus returns — Tabari, Ibn Kathir, Bukhari, Ibn Sa'd, and 200+ others — are the authorities. Islamic Corpus is their index.

Editorial position

Islamic Corpus includes both Sunni and Shi'i primary sources, side by side, with each scholar labeled by tradition. Where sources agree, we show the agreement. Where they disagree, we show the disagreement and the reasoning each gave. We don't synthesize, rank, or pick a side. We return what the scholars wrote.
